Schalke Left Back Saed Kolasinac has recently confirmed that Manchester United have lodged an official bid form him.
The 20 year Old Bosnia International said “Yes, I have an offer from Manchester United, but I will not hurry with the decision. I have to see what Schalke think about it.” Bids in the region of £4.5 million are to be expected.
Already racking up 29 appearances for Schalke, 6 from the bench, the 2013/14 season has been a breakthrough season Kolasinac. He has made himself an integral part of the defense and has made the Left Back position truly his.
Defensively he is great as he has averaged 2.8 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 2.3 clearances each game this season however his final delivery leaves much to be desired. Despite deficiencies in his final delivery he has bagged himself two assists, one against Hannover and the other against Augsburg, suggesting improvement in this area is likely to come as he develops.
If the 20 year old does intend to make the Manchester United first team this will be essential as Manchester United full-backs are required to make attacking runs and cross the ball at several points during the match. Perhaps as he is still only 20 years old, a stint with the Manchester United U-21 team could aid his development.
Kolasinac would also fit into the Manchester United transfer policy of buying young prospects before they hit their peak. Previous examples of this include Ronaldo and Rooney. Whether Kolasinac will go on to have a successful career at Manchester United like they have, only time will tell. However we can be assured that although Saed Kolasinac is not yet a household name like Luke Shaw, he is still a tantalizing prospect for the future.
